About
Peace be with you!
We are a husband-wife team working to serve the encounter between man and God through beautiful publications that help us engage the Word of God.
On Every Word Scripture Journal is the first publication of our new family business: Every Word Press. Our love for Jesus and his Word, coupled with our desire to help people pray, has fueled the creation of this journal.
We love praying with Scripture - particularly, the Scripture proclaimed at Mass in the Lectionary. In praying with the Mass readings, we have found a particular love in our hearts for the Gospel passages. Praying with what Jesus said and did has substantially helped us come to know him more deeply and grow in relationship with him. Throughout our lives, his Word has deeply fed and nourished us.
The title of this Scripture Journal is On Every Word. This is an excerpt from Jesus’ words to the Enemy when he was being tempted in Matthew 4:4 - “One does not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes forth from the mouth of God.” These words of Jesus remain deeply planted in our hearts as we are constantly reminded that we live on and by his Word which gives us life. We thought that this excerpt - on every word - would be a good daily reminder that it is his Word that feeds us and guides us.
This journal is intentionally very simple. For each day of the year, you will find the Gospel passage from Mass that day followed by a space of ruled lines for you to journal if you wish. At the top of each entry, you will also find the title of the day’s Mass celebration from the liturgical calendar, i.e. ‘Solemnity of Mary, the Holy Mother of God’ or ‘Friday of the 3rd Week in Ordinary Time,’ etc. This Scripture Journal follows the Liturgical Calendar for the Dioceses of the United States of America 2026 from the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB). For more information about the liturgical year, a copy of the liturgical calendar, the full text of readings at Mass each day, and more, visit our FAQ PAGE and you'll find several links to biblical and liturgical resources from the USCCB.
At the beginning of the journal, you will find a few relevant quotes from the Catechism of the Catholic Church on the gift of Scripture. Following the Catechism quotes, we have included two short encouragements on praying with Scripture. The first is on how to pray with Scripture through Lectio Divina from Dr. Brant Pitre - a scripture scholar, professor, and author. The second is on how to dialogue with God from Fr. Mark Toups - a diocesan priest, spiritual director, and author. Both of these men are dear friends of ours and have played a significant role in our learning how to pray with Scripture and encounter God through his Word.
We pray that this Scripture Journal would serve well your relationship with God as you pray with his Word.
